I thought I would do a series on Jelly Belly flavors. Be kinda cool to see a national campaign like this and be the one shooting it.
Anyway, I love these candies too much. Even worse when you find the single flavors that you love. I was surprised that I had some trouble finding good individual flavor selections in our area. I did find quite a few imitation Jelly Belly beans though. These are all the "real deal". Enjoy and if you are looking for good selections Safeway's and the Dreager's in Danville has a pretty good selection.
The parameters for this shoot were to include a utensil and to show eggs in a fun way. Working within the layout was mandatory as the text could not be moved.
The concept I had was to use a complementary background, I choose yellow for something bright, that would go with the eggs theme and also give a nice contemporary look.
After I had my initial concept done (top image) I decided to make it fun and called a few local feed stores to see if I could "borrow" a chick or two for a short while. It turns out that they are not allowed to "loan" them and take them back later. It might be a health...
Here are a few shots from a still life test shoot, both low & high-key, with beer. Also I did a conceptual shoot with a mountain climber on top of Mount Diablo.
As things go, when Kim and I got to the top and were ready to shoot it started to rain ☺. Not a big deal for him as it was his kind of weather, but I had to cover my strobe and try and keep my equipment dry.
Still life shots done in the studio...
I decided to shoot a salad ingredients assignment using simple natural light and the finished salad using only a desk lamp as a light source. You don't need lots of fancy studio lighting (but I am not giving mine up ☺) to do well lit images.
Parameters for this image were that it had to fit an 8" x 10.5" page, salad ingredients on white background, which is the client's preference. We went for a bright contemporary look, but a traditional layout of the ingredients.
Though not part of the assignment we shot the finished salad in the evening using a desk lamp as the only light source....
This was an assignment to come up with a picture for a drug ad. Theme was old age and this hypothetical drug made life better.
My theme was based on a drug that would allow people with Type 1 Diabetes to eat whatever they wanted for a 2 hour period. Be nice if one really existed eh?
Photo of food was styled by Kathi & I. Pill is a gel-cap Ibuprofen.
